Sony says the PS5 Showcase event on September 9 will reveal up to 40 minutes of updates on upcoming games, beginning at 1pm PT / 4pm ET and giving a glimpse of future PS5 console games that will be released after September 9.

During the 40-minute presentation, expect updates from PlayStation Studios and other developers in the industry regarding the games to be released this holiday season. The event will also feature games from other third-party developers. The PlayStation Showcase will give us a glimpse into the future of the PS5, as well as updates on how Sony plans to release games this year.

Sony has announced the next PS5 PS4 showcase on its various social media channels and has promised to show fans what the future will bring of PS5. Today, Sony revealed that the next week’s PlayStation 5 unveiling will take place on Wednesday, September 9, a week after today at 1pm PDT (4pm EDT ). The event will last about 40 minutes and give viewers an insight into some of the games that will be coming to PlayStation 5 over the holidays next year.

The schedule for the Tokyo Game Show was revealed yesterday when Sony announced a 40-minute PlayStation showcase for September 9. This came as a surprise to many, as PS5-focused showcases have been rumored for far too long. Sony also announced that it would host a "PlayStation Showcase 2021" next week, and promised to bring up patches from all its studios and industry-leading developers for upcoming PS5 games.

One thing to rely on is the untitled PlayStation VR 2 and its next-gen controllers that will be released next year, but a PS blog post made it clear that the new headset and controller will not be appearing at the show. In a blanket statement that did not go into detail about the show, Sony confirmed what would not be shown at its announcement, noting that the next generation of PlayStation VR would not be appearing at the event.

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced the pricing and release dates for the Xbox X and S series in detail, and now Sony is following suit with a big PS5 showcase. The company will announce new information about the PlayStation 5 during a live stream on Wednesday, September 16. Sony says there will be no news on the next-gen PSVR, but the showcase will focus on upcoming games for the PS5.

On Wednesday, Sony not only revealed how much the PS5 will cost when it launches, but also more details about the games that will come to the console. With announcements of Final Fantasy 16, new Resident Evil Village footage and more, Sony has revealed all about the new console at today's PS5 Showcase. We weren't sure if it would happen, but Sony didn't disappoint and revealed the actual PS5 price and release date in advance of the event.

During Wednesday's PS5 live stream presentation, Sony announced that the video game console will cost $499.99 when it goes on November 12. This price puts Sony ahead of the next Microsoft consoles; Xbox Series S begins at $299 and the Xbox Series X starts at $499 on November 10.

Much has been waiting for Sony to announce the price and release date of the PS5 before the presentation on September 16. The big public surprise, aside from the introduction of PS4 in 2013 was the drop in the price of the PlayStation Plus from $399 to $350, which sounded the arrival of one of the best-selling videogame consoles of all time. Sony's September showcase will offer a look at some of the great games coming to the console for launch.

Sony also announced PlayStation Collection, a new feature for its subscription service that allows subscription members to play a huge selection of classic PS4 games on their PS5. Sony also revealed that the PS5 will be accessible on its first day on Netflix, Disney Plus, Apple TV, Spotify, Twitch and YouTube. The PlayStation 5, like Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, will be released in the same month as part of the ninth generation video game consoles.

Sony has made it clear that its PS5 Showcase 2021 will focus on PS5 games. The announced PlayStation Showcase stream promised a bit of both, as it teased that we would get a taste of the future of the PS5.

Only time will tell what impact PlayStation 5 will have on the history of video games, but September's PS5 will bode well for a bright future. Sony's PlayStation Line is synonymous with gaming, and Nintendo is not without an audience. Since the partnership broke up, Nintendo has become the king of the home console market, and Sony's console line has played a central role in sharpening the image of video games in the media.

Today’s PS5 showcase event delivered lots of new material, trailers, release dates, announcements and more for Sony Next Gen games as well as everything we know about actual PS5 price and release date. The presentation lasted about 40 minutes and included updates from PlayStation Studios, the industry's most imaginative developers, and games that will be released this holiday. The showcase post-show is where players can expect a deep insight into more gameplay from various live titles and games that launch later this year.

It is expected that we will get some sort of update to Gran Turismo 7, the next installment of the God of War series announced last year on the PlayStation Showcase. At previous State of Play events, Sony has published a list of games that will not be included in these events.
